LIGHT ASYLUM

Una lluvia piroclástica oscura y abrasadora. Frío que te quema. Light Asylum ha anunciado su debut para el 1 de Mayo [Mexican Summer]. Después de estar escuchando sin parar Kool Thing y  colocarme en un exceso de sintetizadores, han sonado las campanas al ritmo de Shallow Tears. El avance de lo que será el primer trabajo de los de Brooklyn ha acaparado toda mi imaginación y ha secuestrado las bandas sonoras de mis sueños despiertos. Crudos y épicos sueños despiertos.

An obscure and scorching pyroclastic rain. Cold enough to burn you. Light Asylum has announced the release of their debut on May 1st [Mexican Summer]. After being listening non stop to Kool Thing and entering an excess of synthesizers, the bells has rung at the tune of Shallow Tears. The preview of what it will be their first full length has captured all my imagination and  hijacked the soundtrack of my day dreams. Crude and epic day dreams.

AVANTROOTS | Opium Vol.2: A Phase In The Slow Walk

 
Os presentamos el segundo volumen del la serie Opium del sello barcelonés orientado al ambient y la electrónica AvantRoots, que ha salido a la calle a principios de este mes de febrero. Opium Vol.2: A Phase In The Slow Walk nos invita a embarcarnos en “algo como un viaje alucinante, una excursión en la que descubrir que encontarse con los pies en la tierra, a veces, es la mejor manera de volar”. La compilación contiene 16 tracks en los que encontraremos contribuciones de productores patrios como Adapt, Sowing Paranoia, Fabel, Pulshar y Carlo, al igual que de artistas internacionales como Imugem Orihasam, Urenga y Hirotaka Miyamoto.
 

 
Barcelona based imprint AvantRoots rencently released the second volume of it’s series Opium, which consists of 16 takes on ambient, electronica and leftield. This offering invites the listener to take part into “Something like an exciting journey without setbacks, a leisurely unhurried tour in which to discover that being firmly connected to the ground is sometimes the best way to fly”. This compilation contains a big deal of Spanish talent provided by Adapt, Sowing Paranoia, Fabel, Pulshar and Carlo; as well as the contributions of international producers like Imugem Orihasam, Urenga and Hirotaka Miyamoto.

Amor como una llamada anónima que no puede ser ignorada. Amor que desaparece como la persona que se marchita. Amor como el fin del camino. O el principio…
 
Organic Love Synthesis is a short film by  Diego Barrera, recently premiered on the Net. It talks about love. Love as the variable that make you suffer due to its absence. Love like the anonymous call that can be ignored. Love that fades away like the  person who slowly goes away. Love like the end of he road. Or just the beginning…

TINY VICTORIES | Gravitron from Those of Us Still Alive EP

 
Hay vida después de Mr. Bones. Pronto, el 28 de este mes, sale Those of Us Still Alive, el debut de los de Brooklyn. Gravitron forma parte del nuevo EP. El tema fluye desde la rocas de tu mísero interior. Te recuerda ese sentimiento que te arropa cuando caminas en contra de la corriente. No sé, un poco como cuando aprietas la pasta de dientes y tienes que apretar más para que acabe de salir. O cuando estás en la recta final hacia cualquier objetivo y sacas fuerzas de algún sitio que no sabes decir de qué está hecho o dónde se encuentra. Gravitron sabe a melancólica esperanza.  Y como todos esos momentos en los que tienes que apretar los dientes, lo haces con una sonrisa/máscara en la cara. Tan es así que los ritmos que llenan esta canción te llueven y te empapan de sensaciones contradictorias. Tanto, que no sabes si estás apretando los dientes para llegar a la meta o para acabar en el matadero.
 
 
There’s life after Mr. Bones. Soon, Those of Us Still Alive will be released. Their debut EP will be out the 28th of February. Gravitron is part of this new work. This track flows from those  miserable rocks within you. It makes you remember that feeling that gobbles you up when you’re marching against a tide. I don’t know, it’s kinda like when you need to make more pressure on your tooth paste tube to get some out. You can also think of those times that you’re on the last seconds to get to your objective and you got to get strength out of a place within that you don’t even know what it is made of or where it’s located. Gravitron tastes like melancholic hope. And like all those times that you have to toughen up, you do it with a smile/mask on your face. For this very reason, the beats rain on top of you, soaking your person with contradictory feelings. So contradictory that you don’t know if you’re keeping it cool to get to your goal or to go to your own death.

Mi amigo Julio ha pegado un pelotazo indie. Él me había comentado su proyecto de homenaje altruista a Daniel Johnston, Coloreando a Daniel Johnston,  y ahora después de meses, ha visto la luz en forma de fanzine de pinta y colorea y un casete que recoge las 18 versiones que han editado los grupos participantes, del mismo modo que Daniel hacía con sus grabaciones caseras.

My friend Julio has a treasure. He told me some time ago about his idea of an homage to Daniel Johnston. And, after a while, he came up with Coloreando a Daniel Johnston,  which is a compilation consisting of 18 covers made by Spanish indie bands (following what Daniel Johnston did with his tape recordings) that includes also a fanzine that you can color up!
